#222 – The Overshare

We know since way back in the LiveJournal dayzzz that we have all been encouraged to record every thought, movement, and complaint for the internet to read. And you probably know that you shouldn’t do that, but we want to talk about why that is. Why is it that we don’t complain about our husbands on the internet? We know we ought not “air our dirty laundry,” but do we know why?

We also want to discuss where it is appropriate to bring our trials and problems. How do we build each other up, bear each other’s burdens, and work through issues together in a way that glorifies God?

Episode Verses to Meditate On:

Psalm 4:4:

Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent.

Proverbs 17:28:

Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.

Proverbs 29:20:

Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Ephesians 4:29:

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Proverbs 16:21:

The wise of heart is called discerning, and sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness.

Proverbs 17:27:

Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding.

Luke 6:45 :

The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Proverbs 11:12:

Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent.
