A Christian’s Guide to War – 9/14/2013

Our President has been courting the world (and particularly United States citizens) about the prospect of involving ourselves in the civil war in Syria. President Obama had not found the approximately 100,000 Syrians killed worthy of our military involvement. However, recently our President has argued, Bashar al-Assad (the leader of the Syrian government) was responsible for a chemical-weapons attack that killed men, women, and children. Yes. The most radical pro-abortion President in the history of our nation is arguing that we need to attack Syria because of this “potential” threat and our national security. He also really cares about the children in Syria. In his Presidential address attempting to woo the American people and their Congress, President Obama said this:”America is not the world’s policeman. Terrible things happen across the globe, and it is beyond our means to right every wrong. But when, with modest effort and risk, we can stop children from being gassed to death, and thereby make our own children safer over the long run, I believe we should act. That’s what makes America different. That’s what makes us exceptional. With humility, but with resolve, let us never lose sight of that essential truth.”If you are scratching your head, you are not alone. However, there is a bigger issue here: What is a biblical view of war? Are wars out of the question, period? Should Christians support war and dropping bombs on other sovereign states because the government tells us it should? Should we support dropping bombs on Syria because children were killed?Listen-in as we engage the discussion with lots of biblical, political, and pop-cultural commentary. We have Joel McDurmon from The American Vision. Joel has written extensively about this issue. He also brings us into a discussion about his excellent book: Jesus vs. Jerusalem.
